Hatha Yoga is for everybody and anybody - as I discovered for myself!
I was that person who didn’t like going to the gym and after a particularly stressful period in my life I discovered yoga! I’m not particularly flexible but yoga is not about trying to stand on your head or do the splits - thank goodness!
Hatha Yoga focuses on postures and breathing at a slower and more mindful pace than a power yoga class would. However, the list of benefits are immense with some of them listed below:
Mentally
Looks after your mental health by increasing the level of neurotransmitters in your brain like serotonin!
Helps with anxiety, stress and low mood
Helps quieten the chatter in your mind through breathing practices, also known as pranayamas
Balances energy centres (chakras)
The benefits of yoga practice will weave their threads into your life in a very positive way promoting an overall feeling of well-being and much much more….
Physically
Improves core muscle strength
Improves balance
Helps manage lower back pain
Improves posture
Stretches and tones muscles and ligaments
Massages the internal organs and stimulates the glands
Lubricates joints
Enhances strength, stamina and flexibility
Increases lung capacity through breathing practices
Compliments other fitness or sporting activities
Brings about increased body awareness
Can leave you feeling invigorated and energised
Immune system is strengthened and the nervous system refreshed
Spiritually
It is never enforced and may or may not be a journey you go on…….
